About Jason

On December 9, 2009, Jason Kirby, husband, father of two, son, brother, firefighter, EMT, youth coach, community supporter and good friend, passed away unexpectedly at age 37.

For 18 years, Jason was a member of the Washington Township fire department serving as a part-paid volunteer fire-fighter and EMT. He was an active member and officer of the Washington Township Fire Fighters Association, serving many years as coordinator of the Ice Cream Social and the annual Appreciation dinner.

Jason was also the former Treasurer of the Association and had just been elected as President of the Association. He was an assistant fire instructor, a member of the Ohio Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue Team and advisor to the Explorers Post 3369. Jason’s passion for the fire service carried over to his job as Regional Sales Manager for Lion Apparel.

Jason had been actively involved in coaching Wee Elks Football and Youth Wrestling and had accepted the position as President for Centerville’s Youth Wrestling for the 2010-2011 season.
Jason served on the Wee Elks Board and ardently helped in fund raising for the Wee Elks so that all children could afford and were given the opportunity to play sports.

As a result of last year’s Golf Outing, we were able to help 30 boys and girls who would otherwise not be able to afford the fees and extras to participate in sports. We are also finalizing the scholarship application to financially assist 2 Fire/EMT students at Sinclair.
